Figure 1Transverse chest CT images of 4 patients who were almost the same height and weight.
Images were reconstructed with 30% ASIR. Images are (A) NI = 15, objective image noise 10.95; (B) NI = 20, objective image noise 18.28, (C) NI = 30, objective image noise 28.5, and (D) NI = 40, objective image noise 41.52. The visibility of the small structure (arrow) in D was around average.
Figure 2Transverse chest CT images of a patient who had a ground glass opacity nodule in the right upper lobe (arrow).
Images are all NI = 30 and (A) 0% ASIR, objective image noise 32.37 HU; (B) 30% ASIR, objective image noise 25.90 HU, (C) 50% ASIR, objective image noise 22.15 HU, and (D) 80% ASIR, objective image noise 16.66 HU. The visibility of the small structure in D was higher than in A, and the margin of the lesion in D was clearer than in A.
