Abstract
BACKGROUND: Consent forms have lengthened over time and become harder for participants to understand. We sought to demonstrate the feasibility of creating a simplified consent form for biobanking that comprises the minimum information necessary to meet ethical and regulatory requirements. We then gathered preliminary data concerning its content from hypothetical biobank participants. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPALEntities:

Readability tests are based on the average number of syllables per word and words per sentence. The Flesch Reading Ease test rates text on a 100-point scale; the higher the score, the easier it is to understand. The Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level test rates text on a U.S. school grade level.
