Abstract
INTRODUCTION: The Guidelines for the implementation of Article 11 of the World Health Organization (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) require that cigarette health warning labels should include pictures and take up 50% or more of the principal display area. This study examined how the association between large pictorial warnings, those covering ≥50% of the front and back of the package, and the prevalence of cigarette smoking varies by educational attainment.Entities:

Note: Odds ratio and corresponding 95% CI (in square brackets) are reported. Percent change in smoking was estimated using the formula log OR × (1 − mean prevalence) and corresponding standard errors (in parentheses) are reported in the lower panel of Table. Regressions also controlled for age, age squared, household size, employment status, wealth index, POER scores, the stage of tobacco epidemic, adult literacy rate, and a linear year trend. The interaction test shows that the association significantly differed by education levels, † p ≤ 0.1, * p ≤ 0.05, ** p ≤ 0.01.
