Abstract
BACKGROUND: This study assesses whether comparatively high prostate cancer incidence rates among white men in Utah represent higher rates among members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS or Mormons), who comprise about 70% of the state's male population, and considers the potential influence screening has on these rates.Entities:

Percentage of men aged 50 years and older receiving a PSA test in the past year according to LDS status and age

| Status | 50–59 | 60–69 | 70+* | 50+ |
| LDS | 134/240 (55.8%) | 151/212 (71.2%) | 116/162 (71.6%) | |

*Because of small numbers among nonLDS in the age group 80+, age groups 70–79 and 80+ were combined. Bold-typed represent significantly greater PSA testing among LDS compared with nonLDS, based on a one-sided hypothesis test and the 0.05 level of significance.
