Abstract
BACKGROUND: Increased physical activity (PA), reduced time spent sedentary (SED), healthier diet and reduced body weight may all have a positive impact on cardiometabolic risk. The relative importance of change in each of these variables on cardiometabolic risk, however, is unclear. We therefore sought to investigate the relative contributions of changes in PA, SED, diet and body weight on cardiometabolic risk.Entities:

aCardiometabolic risk score calculated as (the z-score for the sum of z-scores for fasting glucose, fasting insulin, HbA1c, total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol#, triglyceride, blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure)*10. #negative value for HDL cholesterol z-score used. Thus 0 is the mean risk score for the group, and a difference of 10 represents 1 SD difference from the mean. A higher value denotes higher risk.
