Abstract
Families of currently hospitalized patients in an extended-care psychiatric facility were interviewed concerning their views of hospitalization and discharge. Although most were sad that their relative was hospitalized, only a third felt that they would rather be caring for their relative at home. Families felt communication with hospital staff was poor and many of their needs were unmet. Families indicated a number of concerns around discharge. If clients were to be discharged soon, most families felt the clients needed a highly structured supervised living arrangement.Entities:
