Abstract
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to compare the clinical and radiographic outcomes of high tibial osteotomy (HTO) and unicompartmental arthroplasty (UKA) in advanced medial compartment arthritis accompanied by kissing lesions in relatively young patients.Entities:

Fig. 1A 54-year-old female who had medial compartmental arthritis combined with a kissing lesion. The kissing lesion was diagnosed when the femoral condyle and tibial condyle were seen in contact on the 45° flexion weight bearing posterior-anterior radiograph.

Varus is defined as minus; valgus is defined as plus.
Fig. 2(A) Femoral-tibial angle was defined as the angle between the anatomical axis of the femur and the tibia in the anteroposterior (AP) view of the knee joint. (B) For the assessment of mechanical axis deviation (MAD), a line was drawn from the center of the ankle joint to the head of the femur through that of the knee joint on the weight bearing full-limb AP radiograph. MAD was calculated as the horizontal distance from this line to the medial edge of the tibial plateau divided by the total width of the tibial plateau.
