Abstract
The spindle assembly checkpoint (also known as the spindle or mitotic checkpoint) is a surveillance system that ensures fidelity of chromosome segregation. Here we suggest, in light of historical and more recent evidence, that this signaling system monitors kinetochore attachment and spindle assembly by two distinct, but functionally overlapping, pathways.Entities:
