Early clinical experience with cimetidine in duodenal ulcer patients.

J F Groarke1,2, O FitzGerald1,2.

Abstract

Nineteen patients with duodenal ulcer have been treated with cimetidine 1.2 G daily for six weeks. All experienced striking symptomatic improvement. Measurement of gastric secretion showed that tolerance to cimetidine had not developed after six weeks treatment. No significant side effects were noted. Cimetidine appears to be a safe and effective means of controlling duodenal ulcer symptoms. Controlled trials are indicated.
