Normoglycaemic/no diabetes: those who neither indicated diabetes nor had a raised HbA1C measurement (<39mmol/mol (<5.7%))
Pre-diabetes: those without diabetes but an HbA1C measurement within the pre-diabetic range (39-<48mmol/mol (5.7-<6.5%)).
Undiagnosed diabetes: those with raised HbA1C (≥48mmol/mol (≥6.5%)) without diagnosed diabetes
Controlled diabetes: those with diabetes and an HbA1C <39mmol/mol (5.7%).
Diabetes and moderately raised HbA1C: those with diagnosed diabetes and an HbA1C 39-<48mmol/mol (5.7–6.49%).
Uncontrolled diabetes: those with diagnosed diabetes and raised (≥48mmol/mol (≥6.5%)) HbA1C.
