Abstract
The knowledge base of information related to early wound healing around endosseous dental implants is rapidly changing and expanding. Unless one is directly involved with creating this pool of information or has an extraordinary interest in the literature of the field, it is difficult to keep up to date with the flow of information. This article is intended to provide the clinician with a state-of-the-art review of the current literature related to early wound healing and the creation of an osseointegrated interface between living and nonliving structures. While some literature dealing with basic laboratory studies including tissue culture is discussed, the primary focus of the article is the in vivo literature, ie, animal and human studies.Entities:
