Interpretation of the properties of chromatin extracts from mammalian nuclei.

A J Marshall, L A Burgoyne.

Abstract

Chromatin from standard preparations of nuclei stabilized by magnesium ions at 0-4 degrees C was degraded during the nuclear isolation, and newly-synthesized chromatin was degraded slightly more slowly than the ;older' chromatin. The significance of this observation, and its relation to the interpretation of the properties of nucleoprotein extracts is discussed.
