The learning curve for laparoscopic hernia repair.

D Wright1, P J O'Dwyer.

Abstract

As with other laparoscopic procedures, the learning curve for laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair is longer than most surgeons anticipated. This, combined with a lack of familiarity with the preperitoneal anatomy and the simultaneous adoption of open tension-free hernioplasty, has made it difficult for surgeons to sustain enthusiasm for the laparoscopic hernia repair.
