Abstract
Results from DNA fingerprint analyses of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex isolates from tuberculosis (TB) patients diagnosed during 5 years in Denmark are presented. The lack of success in eradicating TB in this low-incidence country may be explained by an unrecognized high frequency of active TB transmission (57%) among native Danes. Only two strains of M. tuberculosis are responsible for 40% of all clustered cases of TB among Danes.Entities:
