Abstract
Ductal carcinoma in situ represents a heterogeneous group of lesions now most commonly discovered by mammography. The biological behavior of ductal carcinoma in situ ranges from indolent, essentially benign lesions to obligate precursors of invasive carcinoma. This article reviews the natural history of this disorder, its mammographic and pathologic features, and current considerations in patient management, including the role of mammography. The results of recent clinical trials are summarized.Entities:
