Screening for breast cancer: the Swedish trial.

Abstract

A randomized, controlled mammographic screening procedure has been initiated in Sweden. The study has been conducted since 1977 in Kopparberg county and since 1978 in Ostergötland county. This paper describes the planning and organization of the study as well as the method of screening used. The results of the first 27 months in Kopparberg county are presented.
