Abstract
Fatty acid synthesis from acetate in extracts of Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain LK2G12 was shown to be stimulated by alpha-glycerophosphate and citrate, and by a number of compounds related to them. Magnesium was shown to stimulate fatty acid synthesis from acetyl-coenzyme A but not from malonyl-coenzyme A, thus indicating the site of stimulation of fatty acid synthesis to be the acetyl-coenzyme A step.Entities:
