Abstract
BACKGROUND: Colorectal cancer, among which are malignant neoplasms of the rectum and rectosigmoid junction, is the fourth most common cancer cause of death globally. The goal of this study was to evaluate independent predictors of in-hospital mortality in adult and elderly patients undergoing emergency admission for malignant neoplasm of the rectum and rectosigmoid junction.Entities:

Backward logistic regression analysis to evaluate the associations between mortality and different risk factors in patients emergently admitted with a primary diagnosis of malignant neoplasm of rectum or rectosigmoid junction and undergoing an operation (NIS 2004–2014). Mortality was the dependent variable.
