Abstract
Introduction: Hypertension is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, and has been associated with target organ damage. Effects of hypertension on the auditory system are varied and requires further investigation. This study aimed to investigate the association between hypertension and auditory deficits (hearing loss and tinnitus).Entities:

Hearing loss defined as four-frequency pure tone average of ≥20 dB HL in at least one ear.
A manual forward selection stepwise was used to shortlist all predictor variables with a significance level of p < 0.25. A p-value of <0.05 was used as the inclusion criterion for the different factors into the multivariable model. P-values that are < 0.05 are marked in bold.
