IFG (impaired fasting glucose): FPG values 5.6 mmol/l to 6.9 mmol/l; IGT (impaired glucose tolerance): 2‐hour plasma glucose in 75g OGTT of 7.8 mmol/l to 11 mmol/l; HbA1c: values of 5.7 to 6.4% (39–47 mmol/mol);
Diabetes: known diagnosis at health examination or HbA1c equal or above 6.5% (48 mmol/mol), or FPG equal or above 7 mmol/l or 2 hour PG: 2‐hour plasma glucose in 75g OGTT equal or above 11.1 mmol/l.

*EQ‐5D‐3L score of 1 equals full health and 0 equals death. To facilitate comparisons between states we are reporting density units in y‐axis so that the area under each histogram is equal to 1

| Pearson correlation | 0.783 | 0.799 |
Marginal effects measure the association with EQ‐5D‐3L score changes when the glucose state changes, holding all other variables constant (age, sex, smoking status, BMI and PAEE). For example, a change from NGT to prediabetes is associated with an increase in EQ‐5D‐3L score of 0.024 in the UK model, holding all else constant.
