Abstract
BACKGROUND: The aim of the present study was to compare macular hole closure rates of patients with small and medium-sized macular holes who underwent vitrectomy with internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling combined with ILM flap transposition over the macular hole, compared with classic ILM peeling.Entities:

Fig. 1Surgical technique of internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling with ILM flap transposition over the macular hole (MH). A temporal ILM flap was prepared (1), while the residual ILM around the MH was peeled until the rim of the MH (2), after which the ILM flap was positioned in an inverted fashion over the MH (arrow)
