Abstract
Recent studies have greatly advanced our understanding of the central role of mitochondria on endothelial function. Here, we propose a hypothesis that unidirectional laminar (pulsatile) flow and disturbed laminar (oscillatory) flow may differentially modulate mitochondrial phenotypes in the context of their bioenergetic, signaling, and biosynthetic functions, providing novel insights into subcellular mechanisms underlying how exercise benefits the improvement of vascular health.Entities:
