Abstract
BACKGROUND: Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the D-Loop region of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) have been implied in tumorigenesis of different types of tumors, but the associations involving polymorphisms in mtDNA coding regions still need to be clarified.
