Abstract
Glucocorticoid resistance often dims glucocorticoid's therapeutic efficacy in sepsis. However, the mechanism is incompletely understood. In this issue, Vandewalle et al. (2021) demonstrate that glucocorticoid resistance leads to hyperlactatemia and that this combination facilitates lethal sepsis. This insight gives important clarity to the pathophysiology of sepsis, while further suggesting therapeutic avenues for its treatment.Entities:
