A summary of the intervention components
| Session | Activities | Duration (min) |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1: Session 1 Symptom experience | At the outpatient chemotherapy unit, the specially trained nurse introduced herself and implements the study protocol as follow | 15 |
| Day 1: Session 2 Symptom clusters management strategies | The specially trained nurse at the outpatient chemotherapy unit provided the information booklet including evidence-based instruction in physiological, behavioral, and psychological strategies to manage the symptom clusters. | 45 |
| Day 7: Session 3 Patient check-in | The nurse made a follow-up telephone call to assess the adherence to the program. The patient’s symptoms regarding the severity of fatigue, loss of appetite, and anxiety were discussed. The participant evaluated the feasibility of the program and suggested some modifications | 10-15 |
| Day 14: Session 3 Patient check-in | The activities from day 7 were reimplemented | 10-15 |
| Day 28: Session 4 Outcome evaluation | Participants were scheduled to visit the outpatient chemotherapy unit. The research assistant who was blind to the study condition collected the diaries | 5-10 |
