Abstract
BACKGROUND: It is known that chemotherapeutic agents are not equally stomatotoxic and oral cavity lesions are the most frequent complications encountered in antineoplastic chemotherapy. AIMS: The objective of this study was to evaluate the occurrence of severe oral mucositis during a chemotherapy treatment and to identify its relationship with the chemotherapeutic class used.Entities:

The absolute and percent frequencies distributed in this table do not correspond to the totality of drugs used in the different chemotherapy protocols instituted to the patients of this study. The drugs listed here are included in the following classes according to ANVISA (BRAZIL. 2013): alkylating agents (cyclophosphamide; ifosfamide); antimetabolites (Ara C; methotrexate); natural products (actinomycin D; daunorubicin; doxorubicin; vincristine); miscellaneous (cisplatin)
