Abstract
INTRODUCTION: The evaluation of patients with suspected appendicitis strives to identify all patients with presenting symptoms while minimizing negative appendectomy rate. The aim of the study was to identify the optimal combination of clinical and laboratory parameters that should facilitate the emergency department surgeon's definite decision.Entities:

Alvarado score for diagnosis of acute appendicitis
| Migratory right iliac fossa pain | 1 | |
| Anorexia | 1 | |
| Nausea/vomiting | 1 | |
| Tenderness in right iliac fossa | 2 | |
| Rebound tenderness | 1 | |
| Elevated temperature | 1 | |
| Leukocytosis (WBC > 10 x109/L) | 2 | |
| Shift to the lest of neutrophiles (> 70%) | 1 | |
| *For each of the present symptoms, signs or laboratory findings, an adequate number of points is assigned. A score of 5 or 6 is compatible with the diagnosis of acute appendicitis. A score of 7 or 8 indicates a probable appendicitis. A score of 9 and 10 indicates a very probable appendicitis ( | ||
