Abstract
A genomic DNA sample from cervical cancer tissue, containing human papillomavirus (HPV) type 16, was found to induce malignant transformation of NIH 3T3 cells when it was tested by transfection assays using the calcium phosphate coprecipitation technique. The primary and secondary transformants contained the HPV type 16 DNA sequences and human specific Alu family sequences. To the best of our knowledge, it has not been reported previously that HPV type 16 DNA sequences in total genomic DNA from a cervical cancer have transforming activity.Entities:
