Abstract
BACKGROUND: Transplantation is often the best, if not the only treatment for end-stage organ failure; however, the quality metrics for determining whether a transplant program is delivering safe, high quality care remains unknown. The purpose of this study is to identify and describe quality indicators or metrics in patients who have received a solid organ transplant. METHODS/Entities:

Domains of quality of health care [9, 14]
| Domain of quality | Definition |
|---|---|
| Access | Delivery of health care that is timely, geographically reasonable, and provided in a setting where skills and resources are appropriate |
| Equitable | Delivering health care which does not vary in quality because of personal characteristics such as gender, race, ethnicity, or socio-economic status |
| Patient-centered | Delivering health care which takes into account the individual patient preferences, needs, and values |
| Efficiency | Delivering health care in a manner which maximizes resources use and avoids waste, including waste of equipment, supplies, ideas and energy |
| Safety | Delivering health care which minimizes risks and avoids injuries to patients from the care that is intended to help them |
| Effectiveness | Delivering health care that is adherent to an evidence base and results in improved health outcomes for patients, and refraining from providing services to those not likely to benefit. |
