*Exploratory analyses in the models including an interaction term for BMI x ethnicity, as well as age and gender, were conducted before the associations between cardio-metabolic risk factors and BMI across ethnic groups were examined by multivariable linear regression models. The analyses were stratified by ethnicity and adjusted for age and gender.
