Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Exercise dependence (EXD) is considered a behavioral addiction that is often associated with eating disorders. To date, only few studies examined the potential overlap between EXD and other addictive behaviors. Therefore, the present study aimed at investigating the relationship of EXD with pathological buying, pathological video gaming (offline and online), hypersexual behavior, and alcohol use disorder in a sample of clients of fitness centers.Entities:

Prevalence of at-risk diagnoses for exercise dependence, eating disorder pathology, alcohol use disorder, and addictive behaviors
| Men ( | Women ( | Group comparison | |

| Alcohol use disorder | 13 (16.5) | 0 (0.0) | n/a |
Note: a two-tailed Fisher’s exact test was used due to the low expected cell count. No comparisons were performed when the cell had an expected count of 0. b The categorization was based on an AUDIT cutoff ≥ 16 that is indicative for alcohol use disorder (Miller, 1995).
