Abstract
AIM: Gate's glomerular filtration rate (gGFR) measured by (99m) Tc-DTPA renal dynamic imaging and estimated GFR (eGFR) estimated by the Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration (CKD-EPI) equation are two indexes used to evaluate renal function. However, little is known about whether gGFR can be used to accurately assess renal function in horseshoe kidney (HSK) patients with renal fusion anomalies.Entities:

ALB, albumin; BUN, blood urea nitrogen; d, gGFR–eGFR; eGFR, estimated glomerular filtration rate; gGFR, Gate's glomerular filtration rate; Scr, serum creatinine; TP, total protein.
Figure 1Comparison of isotope renogram and curves between horseshoe kidney (HSK) and non‐HSK patients. abcd, a representative renogram and curve of the HSK patients; efgh, a representative renogram and curve of the non‐HSK patients. ae, ROI of the kidney during renal dynamic imaging: red line represents left kidney, green line represents right kidney. bf, automatically collected images during the inspection; cg, renogram curves: red line represents the absorption and excretion of the left kidney, green line represents the absorption and excretion of the right kidney. dh, for the indicators and results during renal dynamic imaging. The eGFR was calculated by the CKD‐EPI equation. eGFR, estimated glomerular filtration rate; LT kidney, left kidney; RT kidney, right kidney; NA, normal aortic; CKD‐EPI, chronic kidney disease epidemiology collaboration.
Figure 2Analysis of the correlations between gGFR and eGFR in HSK and non‐horseshoe kidney (HSK) groups. a. There was little correlation between gGFR and eGFR in HSK group. b. There was significant correlation between gGFR and eGFR in non‐HSK group. gGFR, Gate's glomerular filtration rate; eGFR, estimated glomerular filtration rate; r, correlation coefficient.
