Abstract
BACKGROUND: Guidelines for primary prevention of cardiovascular disease provide little guidance on how patients' preferences should be taken into account. We wanted to explore whether general practitioners (GPs) are sensitive to patient preferences regarding survival gains from statin therapy.Entities:

aThe vignettes differed with respect to the survival gain the patient would require to consider simvastatin therapy worthwhile (A: 3 months, B: 6 months, C: 12 months, D: 2 years, E: 4 years, F: 8 years)
