Abstract
Ventricular assist devices (VADs) are not fully biocompatible, and are therefore predisposed to device thrombosis and subsequent pump dysfunction. Clinically significant hemolysis in VADs most often occurs as a result of device thrombosis, but can also be caused by other factors. Herein we describe the evaluation and management of VAD thrombosis and hemolysis.Entities:
