[An epidemiologic study of glaucoma in Shunyi County, Beijing].

Abstract

An epidemiologic survey of glaucoma was conducted Feb.--July, 1985, in Shunyi County of Beijing, revealing that the prevalence of glaucoma was 0.60%, which consisted of angle closure glaucoma 0.41%, and open angle glaucoma 0.11%. The prevalence of primary glaucoma was 1.40% in persons over 40 years of age, accounting for 9.28% of the blind and 16.67% of the low-visioned. The methodology for glaucoma screening was discussed.
