Abstract
With the advent of superresolution imaging methods, fast dynamic imaging of biological processes in live cells remains a challenge. A subset of these methods requires the cellular targets to be labeled with spontaneously blinking probes. The delivery and specific targeting of cytosolic targets and the control of the probes' blinking properties are reviewed for three types of blinking probes: quantum dots, synthetic dyes, and fluorescent proteins.Entities:
