Demographic and clinical characteristics of the fragmentectomy and conventional microdiscectomy groups
No statistical difference found between groups in all categories listed. No. : number, PLL : posterior longitudinal ligament
Comparison of clinical outcomes and reherination rates between the fragmentectomy and conventional microdiscectomy groups
VAS : Visual analogue scale, SD : standard deviation, min : minutes
Fig. 1Visual analogue scale (VAS) scores of back pain in the fragmentectomy and conventional microdiscectomy groups were improved 2 and 6 weeks after surgery. The scores were more improved 2 weeks after surgery in the conventional microdiscectomy group, whereas they were slightly more improved 6 weeks after surgery in the fragmentectomy group.
Fig. 2Visual analogue scale (VAS) scores of radicular pain in fragmentectomy and conventional microdiscectomy groups were similarly improved 2 weeks and 6 weeks after surgery.
