Abstract
Women older than 50 years have a considerably higher prevalence of osteoarthritis than men of the same age group. Although several factors have been proposed, there is some evidence that sex hormones influence the development of osteoarthritis. This article will focus on the basic science and clinical evidence that describe the current state of knowledge regarding the relationship between sex hormones and the development of osteoarthritis.Entities:
