Abstract
BACKGROUND: The dominant viral etiologies responsible for acute respiratory infections (ARIs) are poorly understood, particularly among hospitalized children in resource-limited tropical countries where morbidity and mortality caused by ARIs are highest. Improved etiological insight is needed to improve clinical management and prevention.Entities:

Percentages were calculated based on the fraction of patients having a specific symptom within each group.
Median (IQR) of age of each group.
fast breathing was defined according to the standard WHO [15].
Median (IQR) of duration of hospitalization (days).
Number and percentage of patients having duration of hospitalization lasted longer than 7 days.
Figure 1Proportion of RSV and hMPV positive cases recruited each month from November 2004 to January 2008.
Time in months is displayed on the X-axis and the percentage of positive cases of each virus among all cases recruited in that month on the y-axis.
