Abstract
This study of 50 referrals showed that formal and informal communication was better among family physicians and consultants where mutual respect existed. Conditions are more favorable for establishing this respect where the two have had the opportunity to interact, as in northern Ontario clinics. Family physicians must work harder to establish both patient and consultant respect in urban settings.Entities:
