Abstract
Anemia in pregnancy is a worldwide problem, but it is most prevalent in the developing world. This research project was conducted to determine the predictors of anemia in pregnant women in Westmoreland, Jamaica. A cross-sectional study design was conducted, and descriptive, bivariate, and multiple logistic regression analyses were used. Body mass index (BMI), mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC), and the number of antenatal care visits showed a statistically significant association with anemia. Based on the results, we believe that maintaining a healthy body weight, and frequently visiting an ANC, will help to lower the prevalence of anemia among pregnant women in Westmoreland.Entities:
