Abstract
BACKGROUND: Nephropathia epidemica (NE) is a Scandinavian type of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome caused by Puumala hantavirus. The clinical course of the disease varies greatly in severity. The aim of the present study was to evaluate whether plasma C-reactive protein (CRP) and interleukin (IL)-6 levels associate with the severity of NE.Entities:

Figure 1The associations of various clinical variables with maximum plasma interleukin-6 and C-reactive protein concentrations in patients with Puumala hantavirus infection. Data are given as median (thick line), 25th-75th percentile (box), and range (whiskers); outliers have been omitted from the figure.
