Abstract
Eicosanoids are a family of oxygenated metabolites of arachidonic acid, including the prostaglandins, thromboxanes, leukotrienes and lipoxins. These lipid mediators play essential roles in normal cellular homeostasis as well as in a number of disease states. This review will focus on recent advances in the field of eicosanoids and highlight specific discoveries and achievements.
