Abstract
Polycomb group proteins (PcG) are required for proper developmental regulation and cell fate commitment in metazoans. Recently, four studies reported the identification of JARID2, a JmjC domain-containing protein, as a component of the Polycomb-repressive complex 2 (PRC2), which is involved in implementing histone H3 Lys 27 methylation and transcriptional repression during development. Here, we discuss the implications of these studies for an improved understanding of PcG function in development.Entities:
