Abstract
This paper explains and illustrates the surgical procedure, step by step, to close a dehiscence of Superior Semicircular Canal using a transmastoid approach. This approach has several advantages over the middle cranial fossa craniotomy. Firstly, the morbidity is substantially lower. Secondly, mastoid cortical bone graft is less likely to get reabsorbed than outer table temporal bone. Therefore, surgical result is bound to be better. Finally, most otologists are more familiar and feel more comfortable with the transmastoid route than with the middle fossa one.Entities:
