Abstract
Endocytosis has traditionally been studied in isolated cells. More recently, however, the analysis of protein trafficking in whole organisms has revealed that it plays exciting roles during development. Endocytic trafficking of cell adhesion molecules regulates epithelial polarity and cell migration. Developmental signaling pathways are regulated by the trafficking of receptors and their ligands through the endocytic pathway. Finally, impairment of the endocytic machinery can affect proliferation control and contribute to tumor development.Entities:
