Abstract
The gene coding for xylulokinase has been isolated from the yeast Pachysolen tannophilus by complementation of Escherichia coli xylulokinase (xylB) mutants. Through subcloning, the gene has been localized at one end of a 3.2-kilobase EcoRI-PstI fragment. Expression of the cloned gene was insensitive to glucose inhibition. Furthermore, the cloned gene did not cross-hybridize with E. coli and Saccharomyces cerevisiae xylulokinase genes.Entities:
