Abstract
H-NS belongs to the group of histone-like proteins in Gram-negative bacteria and is also a pleiotropic regulator of genes implicated in many responses to environmental changes. It plays a dual role in structuring DNA and in regulating transcription. Recent advances have been made in elucidating the structure and oligomerisation properties of this protein, thus aiding in the understanding of the molecular relationship between its two major functions.Mesh:
