Abstract
A case of intracerebral schwannoma in an 11-year-old girl is presented. Of the small number of intracerebral schwannomas reported without association to a cranial nerve, the majority have occurred in children or young adults. Several possible etiologies for this tumor type are discussed. Based upon the distribution of ages at presentation and theories of the pathological origin of this tumor, the possibility that intracerebral schwannoma represents a developmental tumor is suggested.Entities:
