Figure 1Prospective studies of oestradiol and breast cancer risk in postmenopausal women. For each study, the relative risk plotted is for women with the highest oestradiol concentration (tertile or quartile) compared with women with the lowest concentration. The 'all studies estimate' was calculated by weighting the individual relative risks by the inverse of their estimated variances, on a logarithmic scale. The relative risk for the study by Garland et al 1992 [1] was calculated by us from published data.
